The Pearl The pearl is a story of a poor father named Kino and mother named Juana's who's baby child, Koyotito, has been stung by a scorpion. They attempt to receive medical attention for Koyotito, however the doctor of their village refuses to help because they have no money. I feel this book really shows to what extent parents will go to protect their child. No matter what obstacle was put in these parents way, they would conquer it to protect their child. This book also explains that no matter what happens to a person, they must stay strong and not forget their morals or the reason behind the actions they take. This occurence happened to Kino. He almost severely hurt his wife and soon deeply regretted his cruel actions. Even after these characters witness themselves go mad, they still pull through. It also shows that Characters that are greedy eventually get their payback.
